Culture – The Crux of The Longevity Challenge

We consider ourselves free-thinking, but the crux of the longevity challenge is, quite bluntly, that we are creatures of culture. Culture tells us when to get an education, marry, have children, buy a house, work, and retire. Culture dates back to the beginning of time and is profoundly mismatched to the length of the lives we are living. After all, an American born today has a projected average life span 20 full years longer than one born in 1925. You may need to look head-on at your culture and ask the question “Is your culture in concert with a Longevity Lifestyle?” The comfort foods you were raised with, are they in concert with a Longevity Lifestyle? The exercise you partake of, is it in concert with a Longevity Lifestyle? Are your thoughts in concert with a Longevity Lifestyle? An essential first step is to change the way you think about your longer lives. Twenty or more extra years of life also means you have the opportunity to improve the way you live.
